Increasingly bathroom fitters are being asked 'Bathroom or wet room'?
Wet rooms are in vogue and for people with disabilities they have very clear advantages in terms of access. There are, however, other things to take into consideration when choosing a new bathroom or converting a bathroom to a wet room.
Wet rooms generally cost more to install, partly because they have to be tanked to ensure they don't leak. If the room is upstairs water usage will increase which may have an impact on existing drainage.
If you want a wet room with a wall hung toilet, basin and cabinets then ideally you need a larger than average room. Not enough space can lead to problems with keeping linen and clothes dry when in use.
For a smaller, to average, space installing a a walk in shower may be a good half way house between a bathroom and a wet room.
